With a variety of new threats to schools, campuses and businesses throughout the country this company was developed to help prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from acts of school & workplace violence, terrorism and natural disasters. Many of our instructors have vast experience working in a major metropolitan area for many years which has given them exposure to many things such as hurricanes, terrorist attacks & violent crime.
The President of Spartan School Consulting has over twenty-one years of experience working for the New York Police Department, thirteen of these years dedicated to working directly with educational settings as a focus. His last several years were spent in a Counterterrorism Unit. He has recently retired and is able to dedicate much of his time consulting and passing on many years of experience and training to others.
His efforts in the area of active shooter were instrumental for both uniformed members of the department as well as civilians. During his tenure with the NYPD he has worked extensively with the New York City Department of Education in all areas of their school based emergency planning.

Message From The President
Prior to my retirement from the NYPD, many years were spent working in a Counterterrorism Unit. This assignment was broad in scope, but focused primarily on training police officers and supervisors in the tactical response to active shooter events, as well as the hemorrhage control methods utilizing the ALERRT training program. Approximately 5,000 uniformed school safety personnel were also trained in hemorrhage control under the direction of my unit. Exceptional leadership and the dedicated group of professionals that worked under my supervision were truly responsible for the success and many of them continue to work for me today.
Our unit often did cross training with various units within the NYPD such as Patrol, Task Force and the Emergency Services Unit in response to critical incidents such as an active shooter event.
Another primary function of the Counterterrorism Unit was investigating threats to the New York City Public School System which was comprised of nearly 1,400 schools. These threats were fielded by our unit where we worked in tandem with many other units such as the Patrol Bureau, Detective Bureau, Arson and Explosion, Intelligence Division and Joint Terrorism Task Force.
Spartan School Consulting was a company that was developed to address all-hazards emergency planning for educational settings, corporations, hospitals, mall, churches, etc. Training is offered in a variety of disciplines as well as the exercising of emergency operations plans using the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program methodology.
Specific emphasis has been placed on preparation for active shooter events from emergency plans, to citizen’s response, point of wounding care, evacuation & family re-unification to continuity of operations.
